Congratulations to SFIMA member Eric Archuleta, CMO of Successories.com.
Successories was recently featured in an article on BtoBonline.com highlighting Archuleta's efforts in transforming the business since it was acquired last year. The aquisition of the company meant many changes in staff, merging with two other online brands Trophy.com and Awards.com and moving headquarters from Illinois to Boca Raton, FL.
The article highlights Archuleta's acheivements since taking over as CMO in April of 2009.
“For 25 years, we were in the forefront of our industry; but the brand got a little behind the times,” said Eric Archuleta, CMO of the company since April 2009. Quoting from the article:
Archuleta worked to digitalize Successories' marketing efforts. The company put its catalog online and launched a blog on motivation. Archuleta began a social initiative with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, posting inspirational sayings every morning. And the company published dozens of motivational videos, including animations of its famous posters, on YouTube.
To fully exploit the move to digital marketing, Archuleta began honing Successories' database of former customers to begin communicating through e-mail about the company's revised offerings. What he found in his in-house list was plenty of names and addresses, but few if any e-mail addresses for promotional campaigns or transaction confirmations.
Please see the whole article and see how SFIMA member Eric Archuleta transformed Successories from printed traditional media into a profitable, digital model.

Social Media Moms Sliced & Diced
According to the results of the 2010 Mom Social Influencer segmentation study by BabyCenter, five unique segments of social moms are broken down into two categories, the Influencers, Field Experts, Lifecasters and Pros, and the Influenced, labeled in the report as Butterflies and the Audience. The Influencers make up only 18% of social moms, but they wield 78% of the influence.
Tina Sharkey, Chairman and Global President, BabyCenter says "Since 2006, the number of moms using social media has skyrocketed more than 500%... marketers (can) shift their mindset from social media to social marketing by gaining a better understanding of who the mom influencers are... "
Influence, in this study, was measured by how often social moms post or comment on social networks and the size of their networks on these platforms. All five segments of social moms have distinct characteristics and behaviors consistent across the major social media platforms.
The Influencers are described as follows:
1. A Field Expert is a stay-at-home mom with a topical focus on parenting.
2. A Lifecaster is a Millennial mom who lives her life in public.
3. Pros are mom bloggers who have turned their passion for social into a profession.
4. Butterflies, who are young professionals who put the social in social networking.
5. The Audience is the largest group of social moms who listen and take it all in.
